The little bit of random...

Today is an extremely sad day.
As a gift for Mother's Day/Easter I bought my mom tickets for her and I to see Def Leppard. Awesome! I have never seen an 80's band play before. (Well other than Joan Jett, but I didn't watch the whole set and I was 15 so it doesn't count) I was super stoked about this, Def Leppard and Heart playing together, and I didn't even get crumby lawn seats, I had real seats! Yay! Well no, not really. Because I just found out that they postponed the date due to a family emergency and rescheduled it. Rescheduled it to a date when I'll be out of state on vacation. Are you kidding me?! This vacation is having me miss two shows. The other being a show that my favorite band, Alien Ant Farm, is playing. This vacation better be the best one yet! lol.

So now I am not going to see Def Leppard. This is super upsetting, I had been looking forward to it. Since I purchased the tickets, I had been in search of the perfect outfit for the show and after lots of research and making plenty of concept boards I thought I came up with the greatest outfit. Here were a few of my concepts...

It had to be bright and colorful...

Big hair was a must...
It had to be weird...

I wanted awesomeness... (goodness I wish I was Bowie just to be able to own a jacket that cool)
Glamrock, pretty and girly was an obvious...

Shiny was ideal...
And most importantly it had to be 80's looking, like Def Leppard...

So I pulled together the girly, the bright, the colorful, the shiny, the 80's, the big hair, the weird, the awesome and came up with this...
My Rainbow Brite Halloween costume! It was the best thing I could think of, and I find it was the most perfect as well. Just look at that big hair and all that color, replicating my favorite 80's cartoon! Complete perfection! But sadly I'll just have to wait for another 80's concert to wear this to...damn.
Obviously if my mother didn't want to leave the house with me looking like this, I was probably going with jeans and a t-shirt. A very good second to this outfit :)

The little bit of random...

"Would you like to forget?"

When I was probably about nine years old, my best friend's older brother used to drink this stuff called "Brain Wash". Being that I was only nine, I was convinced that this blue soda would brainwash you. Silly, I know, but I was convinced! I was also convinced brainwashed meant blanking your mind, yeah pretty silly there too. When offered a sip I refused, seriously freaked out by the soda. However now, I kinda want to find this drink.

Ever just want to forget about something, but your mind won't let you, won't let you simply erase it? I was talking about this with Rachael earlier, which made me think of the soda. I have one, maybe two things I'd like to forget about, and she does as well. In her case, a phone number, and the temptation that comes with that phone number. The temptation to text or call it. Sadly even after she deleted it from her cell, she couldn't delete its permanent place in her memory. I blame it on her being an accounting major, numbers are her thing. In my case, an event and everything about it is perpetually branded in the back of my mind. Simple things like to trigger it off, making it resurface to the front, not allowing me to forget. I blame it on being "Kira", not forgetting anything is my thing.

So this is the fearful drink. I'm not sure where to get it, or if you even can still. But I kinda want to try it. Not for my once presumption that this stuff would brainwash/blank your mind, but really because I'm pretty sure it's supposed to have some kind of kick to it and stains your tongue terribly lol. Know anything about it?

"Remember more than you like to forget."

Day 85!

Happy Fourth of July!

It wouldn't be July 4th without someone in my family making a run to South of the Border, or Pennsylvania to purchase fireworks.

My neighborhood sounded like a war zone this year. We had "sissy" fireworks, but someone up my street had those massive awesome ones, it seriously sounded like bombs. Poor Scout hates loud sounds and freaks out every July 4th. So as soon as he could, he found Heather and sat closely next to her for protection. Coincidentally Heather hates fireworks just as much as Scout and was hiding inside too.

I'm not sure if I'm not trusted, or my family didn't want to share the fun of lighting the fireworks, but for some reason Dan and I were given a glow stick. OooOOoh. So we tried to take cool pictures with it.

"So let the bombs drop. Listen to the sound they make on their way down."

Day 84!

Explorations with Scoutie.

Theres this place by my house we call the black path. Dan and I went there the other day, but for some reason there were some older men there, and then cops at the end of the path, so we didn't really stay long or explore as much as we'd like. Curious to know what was going on up there, I took Scout with me to check it out.
I love this photo of Scout.

It had just rained and there were such gorgeous flowers, that I tried to take photos of, but I couldn't exactly reach them.  After several close up attempts I went further up the path to find this.
I might have said earlier that I find beauty in destruction, but this is not what I had meant. It really annoys me that people take garbage up to the path, using it as a landfill. I'm not sure why but whoever brought the couch up there, destroyed it, and threw the pieces of it further off the path into the woods.

They also brought a table up there to break, as well as an umbrella which they burned. Lovely.

Nothing too photo worthy with the garbage, Scout and I went back to the flowers to try to get a closer shot. Success.

Day 83!

Fireworks at Kennedy Park!

After being pushed from our spot by a group of rude people that had no care for personal space, Dan and I went to the water, where it was surprisingly empty and found us a perfect spot to watch the fireworks. I assume since Sayreville was the only town in the county to do fireworks this year, it was way more crowded than usual. And Sayreville knew this was going to happen, and bought huge fireworks compared to the ones from the years previous.

Day 82!

Beauty in destruction...

Everyday I take the train into the city, the train passes Perth Amboy's waterfront. It's not anything extravagant at the moment, but I'm pretty sure they are working on it. There's a lot of graffiti, litter, and buildings that once stood, are now piles of concrete/rubble. While it might be pure destruction, I find beauty in it. Dan and I have been talking about having a photo shoot, either putting together outfits and doing it ourselves, finding someone to do it, or what Dan would really like to do, find a band. But of course you need a proper backdrop and I think Perth Amboy would be perfect. So I went there, acting as a scout, finding locations that would make a great backdrop, I also took photos of random findings for the hell of it.

This is where my train train passes, the water might look blue right now, but it's really the grossest water. It's contaminated with lead, and I'm sure other stuff as well.

While "scouting" I found a bunch of bricks on the beach. It's supposed to say "S & F Co", short for the Sayre and Fisher Brick Company. They are pretty old bricks, since the company closed down in 1948, but they're also kinda famous. It's where my town's name came from, and what my town was known for...making bricks. So it's kinda cool to find them. Oh also, Kennedy Park is where they used to dig up clay to make the bricks. (*the more you know...)

I'm not sure why this picture looks so edited, but I didn't photoshop it or anything.

I stood under the train tracks when a train passed by, but I kinda freaked out and didn't stay long enough to get a good photo.

So instead I got one as I explored further.

So above the beach, where the buildings were all knocked down, there was more than just rubble, there was clothing, hardhats, office supplies, parts of a crane and some doors. I thought this was the cutest thing, a plant growing up and out of a doorknob hole of a door.

Not sure what this ramp was for, but I think it would make for a cool photo shoot background.

I love when mother nature takes over.

Sorta just thought that the ground looked cool.

So some of the places we found might be awesome to use, however, I love the whole death and destructions theme and the greenery takes away from that lol. I'm partial to fall, so that might be a better time for these photos. Or possibly early spring. We shall see.

"I sent you a post card. But the post office sent it back. They said the buildings been torn down."

The little bit of random...

Question...is it a train station?

Or a restaurant?
hey polarized lens, you kinda suck. I can see my reflection, as well as everything elses.
Apparently it's both!

The TVF show I went to yesterday was in this town I had never heard of called, Gloucester. And right outside the venue was the cutest train station. Since we were early for the show, Dan and I decided to take some pictures of the cute train station, to find out they also served food; breakfast, lunch and dinners. Yup, "dinners", not just one dinner, but multiple dinners. Which is interesting, since they close at 3 pm.
These train tracks were right up to the concrete barrier, which is very close, and made me wonder if the restaurant shakes as a train passes by. Then I thought, with the weird train painting, the restaurant being right there and...well I didn't think about it too much, but I thought possibly they were dead tracks.

But they're not! Between sets, the VFW played music from Pandora, and a certain specific song that I can no longer stand began to play. Not wanting to hear it, I left to eat my sandwich I had in the car, and I was just in time to catch a train passing by!

So now I still wonder, does the place shake as trains pass by?

"Don't shake, I hate to see you tremble."
